A tour to celebrate the 50th Anniversay of the Canadian Cuban Friendship Association and ICAP (Instituto Cubano para Amistad con los Pueblos)
CCFA-Vancouver is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its and ICAP's foundings with a very special winter tour to Cuba. Why go with CCFA?
No stopover in Toronto--straight from Vancouver to Varadero or Havana in 5 ½ hours.
Because of our links with ICAP--Instituto Cubana para Amistad de los Pueblos, one of the two premier NGOs in Cuba--we are able to offer opportunities that commercial tours can't.
You'll travel with a small group of congenial folks who will be happy to meet you.
Departure in early to
mid February, for a two-week tour. Seats are limited, so don’t wait.
Cost: $2700 includes return airfare, hotels, 3 meals a day,
and air-conditioned tour bus transportation between cities and to and from
airport. (Extras such as theatre or dance performances or individual excursions
are optional and not included.) A non-refundable deposit of $300 cash or check
made out to CCFA has to be the hands of the CCFA treasurer, Marilyn Wilson,
on or before November 10 in order to guarantee your seat. The remainder has
to be in her hands on or before November 28. Of course if you wish to pay
the full amount earlier than these deadlines, earlier is better. Marilyn Wilson
can be reached at 604-321-0651 or wiljev@shaw.ca.
Contact her to be sure a seat is still available, and she will give you her
address.
Here are some of the wonderful places we’ve gone and things we’ve
done on previous tours:
met with national executives of Cuban Women's Federation to hear about family life and planning, AIDS treatment, sex life, etc. in Cuba.
visited "Abel Santamaria" School for the Blind, to which CCFA has donated funds and equipment.
met with relatives of the Cuban 5 imprisoned in U.S. jails.
were honored with a special reception for us by ICAP.
saw a performance by the Cuban National Ballet.
visited Havana Psychiatric Hospital.
had architectural tours in Havana, Trinidad and other colonial cities.
relaxed at the spa at Topes de Collantes.
viewed environmental projects at Topes Ecological Station.
visited the Che Guevara mausoleum in Santa Clara.
danced at a neighborhood CDR (Committee for Defense of the Revolution) party.
saw a performance of Afro-Cuban dance at Museum of the Slave Route, Cardenas.
enjoyed sun, sand and sea at Varadero.
toured rum and cigar factories in Pinar del Rio.
ate ice cream at world-famous Coppelia.
